Aims & Objectives:

This unit of study provides students with an understanding of the impact of global change at every level of education pushing employability skills and career development clearly into public policy agendas.  With an emphasis on social justice and access; the knowledge and skills to identify and assess the needs of different education stakeholder groups is developed.

Generic Skills Outcomes:

Evaluate the impact of global change, its manifestation at local levels and the impact this has on the education sectors.

Identify and define the many different student groups, their needs and unique requirements.

Identify educational policy issues and their connection with wider interest groups.

Develop thought leadership, policy initiatives and strategies for career development within educational institutions.

Content:

Topics cover the theory of global change and its impact upon education and the wider community.  In particular, policy issues are explored within the context of the impact that effective career development, within the educational sector, has upon economic growth and social stability.

Within this context, the specific needs of different user groups are examined with particular emphasis upon the local environment the student is facing.
