Aims:The aim of this unit is to provide students with the opportunity to explore and consider sustainable business practices at an organisational level. A project approach will be used in helping them to develop and critique sustainable business practices in “real world” change environments. Students will understand and apply theories and processes used to bring about large-scale organisational change in a practical context and in so doing explore some of the interventions used to implement sustainable change at the individual, group and organisational process level. This experience is intended to increase their capability and confidence in managing a heavy and constant change environment. Objectives:• To appreciate the professional and ethical attitudes underpinning sustainable business practice.• To have an understanding of the challenges facing local and global organisations in the contemporary business environment.• To work both independently and collaboratively to analyse an organisational situation from the perspective of different stakeholders. • To draw on the literature to develop a number of effective interventions, and analyse the risks, success and/or failures associated with implementing change at an organisational and people level. • To understand the dynamics of the change process.• To evaluate and monitor change implementation strategies. • To enhance oral and written skills that are critical to managing change.
