HBH629 Strategic Workplace Thesis Proposal

Aims & Objectives:

This unit of study aims to provide personal and professional development for students, and at the same time address a specific organizational issue/need. Given the current context of business enterprises, and through the vehicle of a workplace project, this subject aims to:
  • Assist students to draw on concepts and skills presented in the course, and apply these to an HRM workplace issue which might also related to their specific organization.
  • Develop students' capabilities through their use of qualitative research analysis, business focused outcome, innovative and entrepreneurial solutions to business problems/issues.
  • Encourage personal development of students' practitioner capability through demonstration of business acumen in relation to the chosen workplace project.
This unit of study aims to provide personal and professional development for students, and at the same time meet a specific organizational need. Given the current context of business enterprises, and through the vehicle of a workplace project, the aim of this unit is to:
  • Assist students to draw on concepts and skills acquired in HBH629 Strategic Workplace Thesis Proposal and apply these to an HRM workplace issue which can be related to their working organization.
  • Develop students' capabilities through their demonstration of strategically astute, business-outcome-focused, innovative and entrepreneurial solutions to business problems/issues.
  • Encourage personal development of students' practitioner capability through demonstration of business acumen in relation to the chosen workplace project.

Assessment:

Thesis (10000 words) 100%.

Content:

  • Literature searches and reviews in relation to the thesis topic 
  • Collection and analysis of data.
  • Consideration of strategic and entrepreneurial strategies and solutions.
  • Business research ethics including the use of primary data which will require ethics approval or secondary data which will not require such approval.
  • Personal reflection on learning outcomes in relation to the research and the researcher.
  • Individual supervision.
  • Research report progress reviews.
