Aims & Objectives:

Develops in participants an ability to exercise sound judgment and technique in strategic business management to enable them to contribute to the formulation of business strategy, the development of products and services and the maintenance of quality throughout the organisation. Emphasis is placed on models of strategic management and the nature of strategy analysis, choice and implementation; the development of global business strategies and the importance of ethical considerations. In particular the subject will develop an ability to identify the appropriate methods of implementing chosen strategies and evaluate their impact on organisational structures and operations.

Teaching Methods:

Lecture and Tutorial.

Assessment:

Final examination 70%, Assignment 25%, Class participation 5%.

Generic Skills Outcomes:

At the completion of the unit of study graduates will enhance their problem-solving skills and heighten their awareness of strategic business management in formulating business strategy. They will explore global business strategies to identify implementation of appropriate strategies and impact on organisational structures and operations.
