Aims & Objectives:

This unit of study develops the awareness of and strategies to deal with the issues that impact upon how effectively the client may move through the career transition cycle.  Detailed helping and support strategies are covered to assist marginalised job seekers.

Generic Skills Outcomes:

Assess effects of social and psychological conditions of unemployment.

Identify what is involved in the skill development of case managers and ethics of their professional conduct.

Assess needs for occupation and labour market information and how to obtain it.

Help clients overcome significant barriers to regaining employment.

Content:

Topics explore the many issues that can present themselves to hinder the client’s ability to change their situation (eg., poverty, grief, stress, social and emotional issues)

The unit also explores detailed strategies and models for dealing with these issues providing a pathway forward to counsellor and client.
