This unit is an elective unit in specified Graduate Certificates of Business Management. The Graduate Certificate programs form the first year of the Master of Business Management .
Leadership is widely acknowledged as a critical driver of success in today’s turbulent business environment in which organisations face financial, economic, environmental and diverse social challenges. It is widely argued that today’s leaders are challenged to develop more creative solutions to business dilemmas and develop organisational capability and culture that supports responsive and sustainable business activity. New leadership skills that focus on collaboration, building effective teams and influence without authority have been identified as intrinsic to business excellence in constant change environments. The aims of the unit are to: · Understand the theories and rationale behind the principles and practices of organisational leadership in context in today’s environment · Understand leadership models and their relationship to effective organisational outcomes · Understand the roles of leaders and leadership styles in specific organisational contexts · Know and understand the leadership approaches and skills in leading and managing areas of specialisation · Understand the approaches to leadership development in self and others

· Understand leadership models and their relationship to effective organisational outcomes
· Understand the roles of leaders and leadership styles in specific organisational contexts
· Know and understand the leadership approaches and skills in leading and managing areas of specialisation
· Understand the approaches to leadership development in self and others
Lectures, guest speakers, industry visits, case study analysis, online delivery
