Aims & Objectives:

At the completion of units, students will be able to: •
  • Demonstrate an understanding of themselves and their impact on other people using Organisational Behaviour theories
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the way others influence their behaviour by linking Organisational Behaviour theory to personal experience
  • Demonstrate the benefits of working in semi-autonomous groups
  • Understand the difficulties of working in groups with varied group dynamics
  • Apply problem solving and critical thinking skills through the experiential learning method
  • Manage self and others in an organisational context

Teaching Methods:

Lecture (1 hours), Tutorials (2 hour)

Assessment:

Individual mid term paper, Participation, Group Presentation (65%), Individual assignment (35%)

Content:

  • Introduction to group development, group processes and structure as well as concepts and theories around Organisational Behaviour
  • Through various Organisational Behaviour theories and concepts, explore the impact of behaviour on both individual level and group level

Reading Materials:

To be advised based on available texts and readings at the time. If a suitable text book incorporating these topics is not available, a set of readings will be compiled

Students will be advised of appropriate relevant reading when the unit is offered.
