Aims & Objectives:

At the successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  • Assess the economic, political and business environments in Northeast Asia and India
  • Assess potential business opportunities, competition and threats in doing business in Northeast Asia, China and India
  • Use various methodologies to develop regional and country strategies and entry modes for doing business in Northeast Asia and India
  • Develop regional and country strategies and entry modes for doing business in Northeast Asia and India 
  • Make decisions using skills developed in researching case studies to update normative knowledge of the regions
  • Present findings in a group oral and written consultancy report

Teaching Methods:

Lecture/seminars (3 hours)
Lecture/seminars and case study presentations will be used to introduce the topics and resources, demonstrate concepts, and provide a forum for demonstration, discussion and questions.

Assessment:

Group Assignments (20%-40%)
Individual assignments (20%-40%)
Exam (30%-50%)

Issues that influence business in Northeast Asia to include topics such as the following:

  • management, globalization and regional integration
  • political

  • socio-cultural
  • technological and legal frameworks specifically significant for Northeast Asia and India
