This unit addresses a systematic way of thinking about, and analysing aspects of leadership, organisation behaviour and key management practices utilising wherever possible the expertise of the students. The unit forms part of stage 1 of the MEI, assessing new ventures and opportunities. It continues in stage 2 with Managing the Growing Business. After completion of this unit students should be able to: have an enhanced capacity to apply their knowledge of self in relation to business/enterprise development and related organisation dynamics; work more effectively in teams and in leading groups and teams; appraise critically, the contribution of leadership, key management practices and organisation behaviour to the development of an entrepreneurial enterprise;use the selected frames of human resources, structural, political and symbolic for analysing the inter-relatedness of structure and behaviour in organisational settings;develop the knowledge and skills related to new venture leadership and behavior including intuitive decision making
Classroom, self reflection journals and online delivery, via a combination of presentations, discussions, case studies, field work and practical activities and, where appropriate, experiential activities. Incorporating ongoing innovative entrepreneurship teaching pedagogies.
