This unit of study provides students with the practical knowledge and skill sets to plan and implement a client intervention.

Appreciate the case management client-centred process and the importance of using it. Plan your counselling time to sorting out compatible career direction options before providing job hunt training in order to achieving sustainable employment outcomes. Distinguish between a range of client intervention approaches, i.e. models, to help move unemployed clients through career transition stages to sustainable employment. Apply the management practices involved in the administration and delivery of services to client and potential employer.

Topics cover the different approaches to case management and the critical aspects that need to be considered for successful counsellor – client relationships (for example, assessments, questioning, approaches to education and vocational issues, health considerations, transferable skill identification and accessing relevant career information).
The unit also looks at specific approaches to building trust, establishing functional client relationships, motivation and moving the client to action.
