Aims & Objectives:

Upon completing this unit, students should be able to:
  • Understand Australian Industrial relations legislation
  • demonstrate a sound understanding of the major theoretical and conceptual principles of Industrial Relations
  • understand possible employee and employer behaviour in negotiation or conflict situations
  • demonstrate an ability to apply this understanding to a range of business environments
  • use analytical skills to evaluate the effectiveness of Industrial Relations systems in workplaces
  • design industrial relations strategies to solve business problems

Teaching Methods:

Lecture (2 hours), Tutorials (1 hour)

Assessment:

Assignment/Critical Essay (individual) (60%); Group Industrial Relations Audit in class (20%), Group Presentation (20%)
