A unit of study in the Graduate Diploma of Science (Good Manufacturing Practices), Master of Science (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Master of Science (Good Manufacturing Practices) (Honours).

Aims & Objectives:

To provide students with further opportunity to undertake a significant research project into or under or relating to GMP conditions.

Teaching Methods:

Self-directed study and/or laboratory work under the guidance of a supervisor.

Assessment:

Progress Reports (35%)
Oral Presentation (20%)
Thesis or Final Report (45%)

Generic Skills Outcomes:

Students will be provided with feedback during the assessment for this unit of study on their progress in attaining the following generic skills:

  • teamwork skills,
  • analysis skills,
  • problem solving skills,
  • communications skills,
  • ability to tackle unfamiliar problems, and the
  • ability to work independently

Content:

  • Students will work, under supervision, on a selected research and development project approved by the unit convener.
  • The project may be directly related to GMP or may be more directly related to chemistry, biochemistry or biotechnology.
  • Each project will involve a minor literature survey which will form part of the final thesis.
  • Projects will commonly involve input from relevant industry bodies, including the student’s own work place (where appropriate and possible).
  • The project may continue from the completed project in HES6425 or may be on an unrelated topic.
