Diagnose how the environment where a person works affects their appraisal of their career situation. Interpret the radical changes taking place in the way work is being organised by employers and the effects on the human resources they employ to carry it out. Categorise formative events during life’s journey affecting career choices and their relevancy to how you select methods of career support. Discern where mainstream theories of career choice contribute to the effectiveness of your career counselling.
Topics cover an analysis of the changes that have taken place in the global labour market and their implication upon the development of human capital at national, regional and local levels. The unit also categorises and explores the major career development theories (content, process and convergent) in the light of current thinking and perspective.
