Aims & Objectives:

At the conclusion of this unit students will be able to:
  • Analyse Italian texts and styles (intermediate to advanced level)
  • Recognise and improve grammar usage and competence
  • Examine and solve applied language exercises
  • Apply acquired reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in Italian (intermediate to advanced level)
  • Think cross-culturally and in a multidisciplinary fashion
  • Demonstrate an appreciation of Italian social and cultural issues and contribute positively to class discussions

Teaching Methods:

Grammar lecture (2 hours), Applied language class (2 hours)

Assessment:

Assignment (20-25%), Test (25-30%), Examination (40-45%), Class Contribution (5-10%)

  • Imperative, passato remoto, infinite, past participle
  • Subjunctive (present, past, imperfect, trapassato)
  • Comparatives, superlatives (regular and irregular)
  • Active and passive forms
  • Impersonal construction, gerund, sta+gerund
  • Clothing, music and musical instruments, environment
  • Short stories, films, newspaper articles
