Aims & Objectives:

Undertake the research for which you developed your Research Proposal in your HBM620 Research Methodology class - In your Major Intergrative Project you will collect and report your data and recommendations.
 
Pathway to PhD and/or to enhance your area of specialisation in your consultancy or career path.
Student outcome: Possess extended capabilities in the area of research problem definition, research question development, research methods and data collection, data analysis, evaluation and recommended action plans.
The output from the project will be a written report:
  • The report can be either a Business Report or an Academic minor thesis -
  • HBM623 - 10,000 words, HBM624 - 20,000 words
You will have completed HBM620 Research Methodology in the preceding Summer or Winter Semester. You will therefore have written your Research Proposal. This proposal will be used to match you with a supervisor for your project. You and your supervisor will hold scheduled meetings so you can collaborate on your research project.
 
Students must also complete either HMB525 or HBM526 or both. It it recommened that students whose projects are of a quantitative nature (numbers and statistics) take HMB526. Students with a qualitative project (about attitudes, values, beliefes, opinions) may prefer to take HBM525. Students are free to choose either or both units should they desire.
 
Upon completion of this unit students will be able to:-
  • Develop a systematic approach to an organisational marketing issue, problem or opportunity, 
  • Perform effectively in the areas of problem definition, problem research, analysis, and evaluation
  • Recommended action plans.

Assessment:

20,000 words business report format (for a business project) or a dissertation (if an academic research project, probably intended as a prelude to a PhD). Individual 100%

Content:

  • A management consulting project or minor research study.
  • The process for identifying what needs to be done and establishing action plans to achieve the desired performance outcomes. 
  • Consulting projects can be sourced from a student’s workplace or another company and is supervised by a staff member.
