Aims & Objectives:

Aims
This unit aims to provide an extended learning opportunity through independent in-depth study of an area of pertinence to participants’ teaching practice. Participants will identify a significant project of interest and continue to extend their personal teaching portfolio.

Objectives
After successfully completing this unit participants should be able to:
  • Negotiate and prepare a learning contract for a significant project related to teaching practice
  • Identify and critically review relevant literature and practices to inform project development
  • Carry out the contracted learning objectives, satisfying learning requirements negotiated with a supervisor
  • Complete and present a project report elaborating the results of their project
  • Reflect, evaluate and articulate evidence based changes and improvements to teaching scholarship

Teaching Methods:

Supervise the drafting and use of a learning contract relating to the program participants’ teaching.

Assessment:

  • Learning contract - 30%
  • Project documentation and outcomes reflecting scholarship of learning and teaching - 50%
  • Project presentation at a colloquium - 20%

Content:

By negotiation, depending on the area to be pursued in the project. Participants are expected to identify and gather materials relevant to their area of interest.
