Aims & Objectives:

At the completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  • Understand the nature and strategic importance of human resource development in the achievement of an organisation’s business objectives, productivity, quality and people outcomes
  • Develop an awareness of theories of human resource development including investigation, design, delivery and evaluation
  • Develop an awareness of approaches of human resource development including investigation, design, delivery and evaluation
  • Begin developing training delivery skills through the actual experience of delivery

Teaching Methods:

Lecture (2 hours), Tutorials (1 hour)

Assessment:

Assignment (Individual) (40%), Tests (40%), Presentation (20%)

Content:

  • Strategic Human Resources development and its relationship to Human Resource and Business Strategy
  • Human Resource development Investigation including organisational analysis, task analysis and personal analysis
  • Program design in relation to learning outcomes
  • Program delivery including micro skills, structured and semi-structured learning strategies
  • Human Resource development evaluation in relation to reactions, learning, behaviour, organisational results and return on investment
