Aims & Objectives:

This unit builds on the financial skills gained in HEI 621 and introduces students to more complex financial concepts which will allow them to make high level financing decisions as well as assessing the impact of those decisions on the value that they create.

On completion of this unit students should be able to:
  • demonstrate the development and implementation of complex financial decisions and support those decisions through the application of financial theory and practice
  • demonstrate a clear understanding of how the value proposition there business is built on translates into value created by the business and what drives that value
  • demonstrate an understanding of the legal framework within which they will operate in Australia.
The learning outcomes of this unit will continue through to HEI 821 Growth Venture Evaluation and provide the foundations for the learning outcomes to be gained in that unit.

Teaching Methods:

Classroom, and online delivery, via a combination of presentations, discussions, case studies, practical activities and, where appropriate, experiential activities. Incorporating ongoing innovative entrepreneurship teaching pedagogies.

Assessment:

Participation (in class graded activity) 15-25%
Individual project and presentation 35-45%
Group project and presentation 35-45%
