This unit of study provides the knowledge base and explores potential tools available to assist third age clients in successful career-life learning and transition.

Generic Skills Outcomes:

Evaluate and select instruments which can facilitate the client’s self-search process.

Compose probing questions which help coach-client interactions and extend the client’s learning

Use probing questions to help client reconfigure a range of work and life options.

Be a skilled guide to clients about where information can be sourced.

Content:

Topics cover the specific skills that add value to third age client counselling including questioning techniques, dealing with client fears and providing client feedback.

The unit also provides a detailed analysis of the many available options for retirement transition and management (including phased paid work, mentoring, unpaid work, managing relationships, routines and responsibilities).
