Aims & Objectives:

At the conclusion of this unit students will be able to:
  • Appreciate the implications of entrepreneurial activity on diverse stakeholders
  • Understand what makes business practices sustainable
  • Assess the ethical and social implications of proposed commercial behaviour
  • Decide on course of behaviour with confidence about ethical implications
  • Develop an ethical and responsible decision making framework for an entrepreneurial organisation
  • Communicate an organisation’s values to its stakeholders

Teaching Methods:

Lecture (1 hour), Case Study Seminars (1 hour), Tutorials (1 hour)

Assessment:

Individual assignment and tests (50%), Participation (10%), Team project (40%)

Generic Skills Outcomes:

The graduate attributes which relate to this unit help to produce graduates who are:

Content:

  • Evaluate entrepreneurial business practices in regard to social responsibility
  • Identification of the obligation of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial enterprises to stakeholder
  • Development of corporate social responsibility in policies and practises through case studies
  • Examine the literature in regard to “triple bottom line” concepts of social responsibility
