Aims & Objectives:

The Entrepreneurship and Innovation unit teaches students about developing new ventures within an organisation and/or as a completely new organisation from the group up. Understand the concepts and processes of innovation and entrepreneurship. Know how to apply innovation and entrepreneurship models in the workplace and in everyday life. Know how to develop an ethical, commercially-sustainable new venture plan.
 
Upon completion of this unit students will be able to:-
 
  • Develop a new venture either within an organisation or from the ground up.
  • Understand the concepts of entrepreneurship and innovation
  • Understand how to enhance personal and group interaction
  • Understand entrepreneurship and innovation processes and the need to ensure that plans meet ethical and sustainability standards
  • Understand entrepreneurship and innovation models through the medium of case studies and apply entrepreneurship and innovation processes and models in their own workplace
  • Know how to conduct integrative assessment to develop a new venture plan
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
  • Communicate in an effective manner suitable for business audiences.

Teaching Methods:

Classes in either weekly or block mode

Assessment:

Class contribution 15% - 20%
Individual project and presentation 30% - 40%
Group project and presentation 30% - 40%
