Aims & Objectives:

Students are expected to develop understanding and skills that will allow them to design, configure and maintain a secure enterprise network using Microsoft Active Directory services

Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit of study will be able to:
  • Plan and Configure Active Directory Domain Services user, computer and group accounts in order to provide secure access to resources in a small enterprise
  • Manage enterprise security and configuration with group policy settings 
  • Plan and implement a Group Policy strategy to centrally manage users and computers in an enterprise 
  • Deploy, manage and troubleshoot software that is deployed using Group Policy 
  • Manage sites to manage and monitor Active Directory replication to ensure directory service continuity
  • Improve the security of authentication using identity and access solutions 
  • Plan and implement the placement of domain controllers, global catalogue servers and DNS servers that are integrated with Active Directory
  • Back up, restore and maintain Active Directory
  • Deploy and manage security certificates using Active Directory Certificate Services 
  • Configure Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services in support of directory enabled applications 
  • Configure Active Directory Federation Services to create a secure identity access solution that can operate across multiple platforms 
  • Configure Active Directory Rights Management Services to provide persistent policies that ensure the secure use of sensitive information
