A unit of study in the and Graduate Diploma of Design (Multimedia Design).
This unit provides participants with a foundation in the principles and production of digital video and audio for time-based media in current technological and cultural contexts. Participants gain knowledge about digital production pathways in multimedia design as well as the ability to capture, digitise, edit and output audio and video content.
Technology tutorials are delivered in a studio environment through lectures, discussions, demonstrations and critiques.
100% of assessment is based on exercises to ascertain formal technology knowledge.
Through the introduction of in-camera basics and editing software, participants are provided with the skills to capture, digitise, edit and construct video and audio material for various media. Editing techniques and simple effects are covered. A series of exercises encompassing vital areas of production gives participants a realistic understanding of what is achievable in design products. Selected software includes Final Cut Pro and Protools.
Due to the constantly changing nature of multimedia design technologies and applications, up-to-date reading guides are distributed in the first week of class.
