At the completion of this unit, students will be able to: Understand the importance of contract law in a business environmentDemonstrate a sound knowledge of the laws, (both statutory and common law), which impact on contractsAppreciate and appropriately deal with contractual issues in their everyday livesRecognise the importance of a contract as a means of allocating riskRecognise diverse viewpoints and synthesise arguments from multiple points of view
Lecture (2 hours), Tutorial (1 hour) Lectures are designed to inform and increase the legal knowledge of students. Delivery and learning revolves around the use of real world case studies, supported by references to a multitude of business law cases. Tutorials provide students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge to practical (real world) contract law problems. Discussion in tutorials is designed to develop problem-solving skills. Students are assisted to form logical and structured arguments, to look for and have respect for multiple points of view, and to reach a balanced and supportable conclusion.
