  • Demonstrate practical flying and airmanship skills sufficiently to attain a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating

Teaching Methods:

Pre and Post-flight briefings
Practical Flight Instruction in Aircraft and Simulator

Assessment:

Practical Examination: 100%

Training for the CPL (A) and MECIR (A) is competency based and while progressive assessment is recorded in the training syllabus the licence and rating is granted on successful completion of the appropriate flight test.
Note: It is a CASA requirement that the student has successfully passed the CASA IREX Theory exam prior to undertaking the MECIR flight test, and all of the CASA CPL theory exams prior to undertaking the CPL flight test.

Both flight tests form the basis of the practical exams for this unit.

Generic Skills Outcomes:

  • Ability to work independently
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to tackle unfamiliar problems

Content:

This unit contains 35 hours dual flight instruction, 20 hours of solo flight time, and 20 hours of simulator instruction. Comprising Pilot in Command, Endorsement training, Instrument Flight and Commercial flight training.

6 hours flight tests (Command Instrument Rating and Commercial Pilot Licence).
