Aims & Objectives:

The aviation research project aims to provide students with the opportunity to plan and develop advanced research in the field of aviation. The second part of the project (HES4962A) requires students to develop their own research building on the literature and the research question(s) identified in HES4961A.
 
After successfully completing this unit students should be able to:

1. Collect data and demonstrate meaningful analysis and interpretation of the data collected
2. Conduct a revision of the literature in light of data collection and analysis
3. Prepare and submit an aviation research project that demonstrates the achievement of in-
    depth research in an area of study.

Teaching Methods:

A variety of delivery modes will be used and will be reviewed periodically by the subject panel in conjunction with the Faculty’s Teaching and Learning Committee.

 
The current modes of delivery include:
  • Lectures
  • Web-based subject presence (Blackboard)
  • Regular consultation with a nominated academic supervisor

Assessment:

The Aviation Research Project (group work).
The assessed work consists of the completed Aviation Research Project (worth 100%).
The completed project has an expectation of 10,000 words per group member.
There is no exam.

Content:

Students are expected to undertake the aviation research project (part 2) utilising the methods and procedures developed in the unit HES4961A. Taking into account the literature review and subsequent identification of research question(s), students collect data and provide analysis and interpretation. Students work in conjunction with a nominated academic supervisor with whom they meet on a regular basis during the semester. The supervisor will provide guidance and feedback on the project structure and content and will monitor the progress of the students.
