A unit of study in the Associate Degree of Aviation - Jetstar Stream Bachelor of Aviation, Bachelor of Aviation/ Bachelor of Commerce ,
To develop the student’s basic understanding of aircraft systems and aeronautical and aerodynamic factors influencing aircraft performance up to Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) standard. Additionally the student will be introduced to human performance and limitations relevant to Airline operations. After successfully completing this unit you will be able to: 1. Apply the engineering and human factors that impact on flying operations at the ATPL level2. Describe the operational limits of both aircraft and human beings at the ATPL level.3. Demonstrate an understanding of the unit material sufficient to pass the CASA Air Transport Pilot Licence theory examinations for Aerodynamic and Aircraft Systems, and Human Performance and Limitations
Classroom
Examination 60%. Continuous assessment tests covering the following (40% overall)o Aerodynamics and Aircraft Systems o Human Performance and Limitationso Navigation. CASA ATPL Examinations may be undertaken by the student in addition to the above examinations. Where the student’s aggregate mark for the CASA examinations exceeds that of the continuous assessment component, the CASA mark will be used for that component.

You will be provided with feedback on your progress in attaining the following generic skills: Analysis skills, Problem solving skills, Communications skills, Ability to tackle unfamiliar problems, and Ability to work independently
This unit of study provides the student with an understanding of the following areas of aviation knowledge to the level required for the award of an ATPL by CASA. Aerodynamics and Aircraft SystemsHuman Performance and Limitations The unit content follows the requirements as specified in the CASA ATPL Syllabus (aeroplanes and helicopters) as amended.
