Aims & Objectives:

At the completion of this unit students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate expanded knowledge of Japanese words and sentences
  • Apply intermediate level of spoken Japanese to express their own opinions
  • Discuss, in Japanese, the cultural differences between Australia and Japan
  • Comprehend targeted Japanese text
  • Contextualise Japanese cultural events
  • Read advanced Japanese texts, sentence structures and the Japanese writing system

Teaching Methods:

Lecture (2 hours), Tutorial (1 hour), Oral exercise (2 hours), Aural exercise (1hour

Assessment:

Mid-semester test (40%), Final test (40%), Class participation and weekly quiz (20%)

  • Practice to report a summary of written texts
  • Build Japanese communication skills
  • Conversation and listening comprehension
  • Conversation classes are based on situational dialogues
  • Listening is based on current topics
