Aims & Objectives:

At the conclusion of this unit students will be able to:
  • Translate the sectorial language used in Italian media and contemporary discourse
  • Show an appreciation of different aspects of the Italian society
  • Orally present brief reports in Italian, demonstrating comprehension of the Italian language and culture
  • Read Italian newspapers and comprehend the issues presented 
  • Critically analyse the development of Italy as a modern nation
  • Formulate and articulate in Italian an opinion on the issues discussed

Teaching Methods:

Lecture/seminars (2 hours), Tutorial classes (1 hour); Language of delivery: Italian with English as necessary

Assessment:

Test 20%, Class contribution 15%, Individual Assignment 25%, Exam 40%
