This course will replace the Master of Commerce (Marketing) Global Leadership Program (CMMK640U) from Semester 1, 2012.

The Master of Marketing is part of the unique Global Leadership Program offering students the opportunity to gain two professionally recognised master qualifications in two years from two high-ranking institutions: one from Swinburne University of Technology, and the other from Northeastern University, Boston.

The program is based in Melbourne and offered through the Faculty of Business and Enterprise, with the Northeastern component taught by Northeastern academics. Students also have the option of applying to Northeastern, to take part of their program on-campus in Boston (students must also apply for U.S. student visa).

The Master of Marketing Global Leadership Program offers participants the opportunity to gain specialist knowledge in marketing. Marketing has become one of the most significant and powerful tools in the world of business and its study is relevant to all areas of business life. A knowledge of marketing can help individuals and business organisations understand how to use their resources to the best advantage in a changing environment.

(International students are required to study full-time and cannot take the part-time study mode.)

The traditional concept that leadership skill resides solely with a small handful of top executives has given way to contemporary collaborative models where influence and decision-making authority is distributed throughout an organisation. Today's workforce continues to diversify, and the tasks to be accomplished become more complex. The Global Leadership Program is designed to assist today's leaders and prepare emerging leaders for meeting these challenges.

The units taught in this program incorporate an action-learning approach that is intended to leverage the interdisciplinary backgrounds of participants and to help build leadership competencies.
