Course Description:
The Master of International Accounting (MIntA) is an offshore joint program delivered between Swinburne University and the National Economics University (NEU) Business School. The MIntA program is delivered entirely in Vietnam in the cities of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The MIntA program is available to participants who have successfully completed the Graduate Diploma of International Accounting, and allows them to further develop their academic skills, by introducing them to issues involved with international auditing, strategic financial management, strategic business planning and contemporary issues in accounting.
Course Structure:
The Master of International Accounting consists of 12 units of study that are offered over a three year period (4 subjects per year) on a part-time basis, delivered in an intensive mode. Each unit of study in the program consists of 35 contact hours in classes and these classes are delivered in two phases. Phase 1 will be lectures given by Swinburne University of Technology staff. This phase is an intensive block of classes delivered in English that will be conducted over five mid-week evenings and Saturdays. Phase 2 will follow this intensive week of classes. This phase will be delivered by tutors from the National Economics University (NEU) and will consist of five three-hour classes. The purpose of these classes will be to review content from the lectures, complete tutorial questions, and also provide assistance to participants in their preparation for the examination and completion of assignments. Following the second phase of classes, Phase 3 will be a one-week study break. The final exam for the subject will be conducted at the end of this study week. In addition to the final exam, participants will complete an assignment that will require the application of the subject content to a practical problem related to Vietnam. This will be in the form of either a case study or a research topic.

Professional recognition:
On successful completion of Stage 3 of the MIntA program, students may be eligible to apply for associate membership of CPA Australia and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and enrol in the CPA and ACCA Programs. Membership of CPA Australia depends on your previous undergraduate degree being assessed as comparable to an Australian undergraduate degree by CPA Australia in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Australian Education International - National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (AEI-NOOSR). Final confirmation of eligibility will be provided by CPA Australia upon application.
Entry Requirements:
Applicants must have an approved undergraduate university degree or diploma. The English level minimum requirement is a Test of English as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Band 6.5 with no band less than 6.0 or equivalent. Extensive accounting experience in an accounting firm will be considered for entry to Stage 1 (Graduate Certificate).
Credit Transfer:
Students who are completing a Master of Accounting at Swinburne University or subjects from the ACCA program will receive credit for equivalent subjects studied.
Course Fees:
In 2009: US$13,200 or equivalent in Vietnamese Dong. (US$1050 per unit of study in Stage 1; US$1100 per unit of study in Stage 2; US$1150 per unit of study in Stage 3) Fees are reviewed annually and are subject to change.
