Course Description:
This course will be replaced by the Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Integrative Solutions) from 2011. The Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Honours) forms the final stage in a four-stage nested suite of programs consisting of: Graduate Certificate of Entrepreneurship and InnovationGraduate Diploma of Entrepreneurship and InnovationMaster of Entrepreneurship and InnovationMaster of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Honours) By providing enhanced study opportunities, the MEI (Honours) program allows students to further develop the theoretical and practical skills gained in earlier stages of the program.
Aims & Objectives:
At the completion of the master program, it is expected that students will have: The skills and capabilities to assess new ventures and opportunities;An ability to emphasise the management of change and new opportunities rather than administration of established practices;Developed a concentration on the planning and control of rapid business growth;Devoted attention to integrating knowledge through interdisciplinary approaches, rather than separating knowledge into functional specialties;Committed to the notion of 'theory for practice’s sake' - applying leading-edge theory to seek practical solutions to complex real-world problems;Developed skills in entrepreneurship and innovation and the practice of innovation leadership; andDeveloped the ability to apply innovative solutions. It has been shown that graduates of this integrated program are capable of starting, developing and managing new business opportunities to achieve company growth.
Course Structure:
The Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Honours) (minimum of 200 credit points, equivalent to 16 units) normally comprises eight semesters of part-time study or four semesters of full-time study.* Honours students complete an additional 50 credit points of research in addition to the 12 units of study (150 credit points) comprising the Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The award of Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Honours) will be subject to: the successful completion of 16 units of study (or equivalent), andthe attainment of a 70 per cent average over the final eight units of study (or 100 credit points) undertaken, orthe attainment of a 75 per cent average over the final four units of study (or 50 credit points) undertaken A student who completes 16 units of study (or 200 credit points) but does not satisfy these performance criteria will be awarded the degree of Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (MEI). *Students holding an international student visa are required to study full-time.

Entry Requirements:
Applicants at master (Honours) level must have successfully completed the Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation and achieved an average grade of 70% over the final 100 credit points in the program, or attain an average grade of 75% over the final 50 credit points of the program. Where a student completes 200 credit points but does not attain the required performance level, they may graduate with a standard master degree. The Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Honours) (minimum of 200 credit points) normally comprises eight semesters of part-time study or four semesters of full-time study.
Credit Transfer:
AGSE is committed to the principles of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Our philosophy of 'Learning Through Experience' recognises that learning takes place through a variety of means including formal studies at universities, other accredited institutions and private providers, employer-based training and development, and relevant experience gained within the workforce.Undergraduate units are ineligible as a basis for unit exemptions, however, students with a major sequence of study in a relevant discipline will have the option of completing an additional elective as a substitution. Applications for RPL should accompany the enrolment application.International students should bring certified copies of documentation supporting any claim for exemption.
Course Fees:
In 2010, tuition fees for this program are based on $2400 per 12.5 credit point unit of study. In the event that a unit of study is derived from another program, the applicable fee will be that of the other program. All fees are reviewed each year and may increase without notice.The Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) is a suite of income-contingent loans for Australian citizens and holders of Australian permanent humanitarian visas. FEE-HELP (previously PELS) is available to eligible fee-paying undergraduate and postgraduate students. It provides students with a loan to cover their tuition fees (lifetime maximum $83,313 from 1 January 2009). The FEE-HELP limit is indexed on 1 January each year.Note: New Zealand citizens and holders of other Australian permanent resident visas do not have access to HELP loans. These students must pay their student contributions or tuition fees up front without a discount.
