The Master of Commerce (International Business) Global Financial Management Stream is a unique program that offers students the opportunity to gain two recognised master qualifications in two years from two high ranking institutions: a Master of Commerce (International Business) from Swinburne and a Master of Science (Global Financial Management) from Northumbria University in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.

The first year of the program is offered through Swinburne’s Faculty of Business and Enterprise and is delivered in Melbourne. The final year is offered at Northumbria’s Newcastle Business School and delivered in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Students who are unable to study in the UK may complete the Master of Commerce (International Business) at Swinburne.

Further information can be found at www.swinburne.edu.au/globalprograms

At the completion of the course, graduates can expect to:
  • have developed a strategic approach and further honed analytical skills to effect change in an international business environment
  • be equipped to make a suitable contribution to the theory of international business or application in an international business environment
Newcastle Business School’s learning and teaching philosophy is concerned with the application of theory, thereby ensuring programs are more relevant to today’s business, secondly the content has been benchmarked against professional standards, again ensuring relevance and thirdly, former graduates have enjoyed considerable career success, applying knowledge and expertise from the program.

The structure of this program enables students to complete a two year program of study and gain two qualifications on graduation.

Students complete nine units of study delivered at Swinburne during the first year of the program. During the second year of the program they complete five units of study delivered at Northumbria University in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom.

Upon successful completion of all 14 units of units of study, subject to pre-requisite requirements, students will be awarded:
  • Master of Commerce (International Business) from Swinburne University of Technology
    and a
  • Master of Science (Global Financial Management) from Northumbria University.
To be eligible for the award of both the Swinburne and Northumbria degrees, students will need to meet the academic requirements outlined by both institutions. Academic and graduation requirements can be found at www.swinburne.edu.au/globalprograms

If for any reason students are unable to progress to Northumbria University to complete the second year of the program they will be permitted to remain at Swinburne and complete the requirements for the Master of Commerce (International Business) coursework and research award.
