The Graduate Diploma of Strategic Foresight is available to students who only wish to complete the first two stages of the Master of Strategic Foresight.

This program will replace Graduate Diploma of Management (Strategic Foresight) (BMSF540) from Semester 1, 2012.
 
The Graduate Diploma of Strategic Foresight is only available as an exit award within the Master of Strategic Foresight (CMSF640) program.


The Graduate Diploma of Strategic Foresight forms the second stage of the Master of Strategic Foresight program and is an exit award only.

 

To qualify for the award of Graduate Diploma of Strategic Foresight, students must complete two double units of study (50 credit points) from the masters program in addition to the Graduate Certificate of Management Studies (CMMS440) (or equivalent). Students cannot enrol directly into the Graduate Diploma of Strategic Foresight; this program is an exit award only.

 

Units normally carry 12.5 credit points, while double units carry 25 credit points. In each year, eight units or equivalent normally constitute a full-time load of 100 credit points and four units or equivalent normally constitute a part-time load of 50 credit points*.
 
*International students holding an international student visa are required to study full-time and cannot take the part-time study mode.

HBG702 Businesss in Practice (25 credit points)

Exit with the graduate certificate or progress to the Master of Strategic Foresight.


Graduate Diploma of Strategic Foresight (exit award only)
HBF720 Foresight Knowledge & Methods 1 (25 credit points)

HBF721 Foresight Knowledge & Methods 2 (25 credit points)

Exit with the graduate diploma or progress to the Master of Strategic Foresight.

Master of Strategic Foresight graduates are well placed for a successful career in foresight and strategy, within a range of organisations. Those who master knowledge and skills in this innovative field will be well placed to become leaders in a wide range of fields.


Master of Strategic Foresight graduates will be eligible for membership of the World Futures Studies Federation (WFSF). The Federation may also grant the status of fellow to practitioners of advanced professional standing.


Swinburne College English for Academic Purposes Advanced level certificate at the postgraduate level (EAP 5: PG-70%); OR, obtaining a minimum IELTS overall band of 6.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0; OR, a TOEFL (Paper-based) minimum score of 575 (with Test of Written English (TWE) score of 5); OR, a TOEFL (Computer-based) minimum score of 232 (with Written Writing score of 5); OR, a TOEFL (Internet-based) minimum score of 90 with no band less than 20.

Applicants at graduate diploma level should comply with one of the following:
  • the completion of a relevant degree or diploma
  • the completion of a Graduate Certificate of Management (Strategic Foresight) with satisfactory grades
  • a limited number of applicants not meeting the criteria above may be admitted after interview on the basis of considerable relevant experience and level of responsibility
