Course Description:
The Graduate Diploma of Engineering Management forms the second stage in a three-stage nested suite of programs consisting of: Graduate Certificate in Engineering ManagementGraduate Diploma of Engineering ManagementMaster of Engineering Management This set of postgraduate programs is for who wish to enhance their knowledge and undertake continuing professional development in the engineering management domain. The proposed program aimed at enriching various sophisticated engineering management knowledge areas essential to engineers and other professionals who aspire for managerial/ leadership roles and responsibilities in engineering industries. The program will have an applied industry focus and include units of study relevant to professional practice and contemporary research in this field. The program aims to produce graduates who will be able to lead and apply advanced technical and management skills to the engineering organisations. The postgraduate programs will also provide a pathway for graduating students to undertake PhD research in one of the specialist areas of engineering management. Furthermore, valuable potential exists for synergistic integrations with other postgraduate programs include: advanced manufacturing technology, aviation, civil, construction management, and risk management. (International students are required to study full-time and on campus.)
Aims & Objectives:
The objectives of the Engineering Management postgraduate programs are to provide useful learning experiences in various engineering management knowledge areas to the students. It is expected that the graduates from this program will be sufficiently competent to manage risks and safety in products, services and facilities in engineering as well as non-engineering industries.
Course Structure:
The program structure for the Engineering Management postgraduate programs has been designed to provide greater flexibility of choice for students. There are some discipline specific core units and some elective recommended units. Students are required to complete specific minimum core/discipline-specific units for each level of postgraduate degree. The Graduate Diploma comprises eight units normally taken over two semesters (one year) of full-time study*, comprising five discipline specific units and three further discipline specific units or elective units. Allowance can be made for an extended study period. *International students are required to study full-time and on campus.
