Course Description:

This program aims to provide students from a wide range of disciplines and business experiences with concepts, frameworks, research and analytical skills to enable them to operate confidently and effectively in a global environment, characterised by constant environmental change and requiring flexible and innovative responses. In the design and development of this program we canvassed industry perspectives on program design and its relevance to contemporary organisational challenges. A common theme linking units of study in the degree is that of business sustainability in a globalised environment. The diploma consists of units of study from business and other disciplines. These units of study are grouped into four key areas supporting sustainable commercial and business development: Commercial accountability in a global environmentEconomic drivers and consequences in a global knowledge economyManaging people in constant change environments with a sensitivity to social and psychological implications of change and through innovative organisational design, systems and learning culturesIntegrative approaches for leveraging from information and communication technologies (ICTs)
Aims & Objectives:
Upon successful completion, students will have capacity to: Critique and respond to challenges associated with the leadership and management of people in complex change environmentsApply organisational performance frameworks in developing sustainability strategiesApply knowledge and skills around reputation management for effective stakeholder engagementCritique and apply organisational design theory and frameworks to facilitate innovation, collaboration and organisational learningHolistic stakeholder management skills, including those for effective and sustainable supply chainsHigh order teamwork and communication skills to support group-based projects and report writing
Course Structure:
To qualify for the award of the Graduate Diploma of Commerce,students must complete 50 credit points comprising: One core unit of study (12.5 cps)Three additional Stage 6 or Stage 7 units (37.5 cps) (subject to the approval of the program coordinator) Students wishing to draw on Stage 7 units will require approval of the program coordinator.

Entry Requirements:
Entry to the Graduate Diploma of Commerce will be available to applicants who have completed the Graduate Certificate of Commerce or approved equivalent.
Credit Transfer:
Applicants with prior tertiary studies that satisfy part of the academic requirements of this program may be granted ‘credit’ and/or entry into the program with ‘advanced standing’. University policies apply and applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Recognition of Prior Learning:
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a student may be granted credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. Application Procedure:
The standard entry into the Graduate Diploma of Commerce (L7201) is a Graduate Certificate of Commerce or equivalent program equal to 50 credit points at AQF level 8 from a recognised institution. Application forms can be downloaded from the website at: http://www.swinburne.edu.au/postgrad/apply/
