The Graduate Diploma of Commerce (International Business) is part of the unique Global Leadership Program, offering students the opportunity to gain two recognised qualifications in one year of full-time study from two high-ranking institutions; one from Swinburne University of Technology and the other from Northeastern University, Boston, USA.

The program is based in Melbourne and offered through the Faculty of Business and Enterprise, with the Northeastern component taught by Northeastern academics. The Graduate Diploma of Commerce (International Business) Global Leadership Program offers participants the opportunity to gain specialist knowledge in international business. International business has become another avenue for all organisations to grow and its study is relevant to all industry sectors.

Upon successful completion of this course, students may continue on to the Master of Commerce (International Business) Global Leadership Program.

The traditional concept that leadership skill resides solely with a small handful of top executives has given way to contemporary collaborative models where influence and decision-making authority is distributed throughout an organisation. Today's workforce continues to diversify, and the tasks to be accomplished become more complex. The Global Leadership Program is designed to assist today's leaders and prepare emerging leaders in meeting these challenges.

The units taught in this program incorporate an action-learning approach that is intended to leverage the interdisciplinary backgrounds of participants and to help build leadership competencies.

The structure of this program enables students to complete a one year program of study and gain two qualifications on graduation.

Students complete five units of study from the Swinburne Graduate Diploma of Commerce (International Business) and four units of study from the Northeastern Graduate Certificate of Science in Leadership.

Upon successful completion of all 9 units of units of study (112.5 credit points), subject to prerequisite requirements, students will be awarded:
  • Graduate Diploma of Commerce (International Business) from Swinburne University of Technology
    and a
  • Graduate Certificate of Science in Leadership from Northeastern University.
To be eligible for the award of both the Swinburne and Northeastern degrees, students will need to meet the academic requirements outlined by both institutions. Academic and graduation requirements can be found at www.swinburne.edu.au/globalprograms.
