The Graduate Diploma of Commerce (International Business) offers participants the opportunity to gain specialist knowledge in international business. International business has become another avenue for all organisations to grow and its study is relevant to all industry sectors.


The graduate diploma forms the second stage in a three-stage nested suite of programs leading to the: Master of Commerce (International Business). It builds on the skills and knowledge acquired in the graduate certificate, further developing the analytical and technical skills that are necessary when dealing with international business issues. 


At the completion of the course, graduates can expect to:

  • have developed analytical and applied skills necessary to manage resources in an international business environment
  • be equipped with suitable skills to continue with further postgraduate study in international business


Part-time students will normally enrol in two units of study per semester, with full-time students normally enrolling in four units of study per semester*. Each unit of study is of 12 weeks duration with a minimum three hours of class contact time each week for part-time students or the equivalent for full-time students. In addition to formal class time, students are expected to spend a minimum of the equivalent class contact hours per week in private study, assessment preparation and team project work where applicable.
 
*Students holding an international student visa are required to study full-time.

  • A range of formal international programs such as study abroad, international work placements and exchanges, subject to approval from program director.
  • Any other unit from of any master program approved by the program director
Satisfactory completion of pre-requisites for the electives would be enforced prior to commencement of any elective.

International Exchange is an academic program allowing you to study at a Swinburne Partner Institution for one or two semesters during your degree. Swinburne's Partner Institutions offer many relevant subjects as well as a secure base to explore a different culture. Swinburne College English for Academic Purposes Advanced level certificate at the postgraduate level (EAP 5: PG-70%); OR, obtaining a minimum IELTS overall band of 6.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0; OR, a TOEFL (Paper-based) minimum score of 575 (with Test of Written English (TWE) score of 5); OR, a TOEFL (Computer-based) minimum score of 232 (with Written Writing score of 5); OR, a TOEFL (Internet-based) minimum score of 90 with no band less than 20.

Satisfactory completion of an approved undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution, equivalent to a three year Australian bachelor degree

Special Non-Graduate Entry
A special entry provision is available for those applicants who do not have an approved undergraduate degree, but have at least a minimum of three years approved work experience.
