Course Description:
The Graduate Diploma of Business (eBusiness and Communication) has been developed to meet the demand of business managers, teachers, analysts, consultants, economic developers, regional planners, community leaders and professionals (including computing, accounting, information system, human resource, applied science and social science). Lifelong learning approaches are necessary to enable a large percentage of the population to adapt to the changes in technology and electronic ways of performing business and community functions on a global scale. While primary and secondary schools prepare younger generations, the university responds to the needs of people already in the workplace. This response ranges from technical training to high level strategic knowledge, skills and applications. Its scope includes human factors, ethical issues, sustainability, community and culture and globalisation. The Graduate Diploma of Business (eBusiness and Communication) is designed to be accessible to a wide range of business managers and other people, in terms of modes of learning (on-campus, intensive, in-house, distance learning), timing, work-based learning activities and use of individual learning contracts. Learning activities include on-line, virtual team activities.
Aims & Objectives:
In the graduate diploma the emphasis is on the manager’s role in enterprise design from a broadening perspective of the whole enterprise. Characteristics of learning outcomes at the graduate diploma level will include professional practice and work readiness. The student will: Apply reverse value thinking for business transformation. Analyse business in terms of architectural design, focusing on aspects of business systems (e.g. information, selling, customer relationship, web based enterprise, supply chain, procurement and logistics). Apply soft systems methodologies and the concept of the learning organisation to decisions and problem solving. Define and apply enterprise design frameworks as part of the learning in relation to business transformation. Recognise change drivers and apply change management methods. Apply performance management tools to business models and environments to achieve competitive and service advantage. Define and discuss marketing outcomes for enterprises operating with different business models in an evolving networked market place. Identify and discuss the problems and decision making challenges involved in creating a networked enterprise.
Course Structure:
The Graduate Diploma of Business (eBusiness and Communication) is the continuation of the Graduate Certificate of Business (eBusiness and Communication). The graduate certificate consists of four units of study and the graduate diploma consists of a further four units of study, totalling eight units of study, each worth 12.5 credit points (100 credit points). Units of study may consist of a number of modules to allow simplicity and flexibility in course delivery. The workload in each unit of study is expected to be approximately 120 hours of study, including all learning activities (independent study, work-based, on-line, formal classes (virtual or real). In certain circumstances students may be allowed to substitute relevant units of study from specialist areas for those listed. The program enables students to study in a variety of modes including: Full-time: study full-time weekday classes (for local and international students) Part-time: study part-time weekday classes (for local students) Online: study all units of study online in your home country (for international students) or in Australia (for local students) Mixed mode: study some units of study online and the balance by weekday classes (for local students)
