Course Description:

The program aims to provide students from a wide range of disciplines and business experiences with concepts, frameworks, research and analytical skills to enable them to operate confidently and effectively in a global environment, characterised by constant environmental change and requiring flexible and innovative responses. In the design and development of this program we canvassed industry perspectives on program design and its relevance to contemporary organisational challenges. A common theme linking units in the degree is that of business sustainability in a globalised environment. The degree consists of units from business and other disciplines. These units are grouped into four key areas supporting sustainable commercial and business development: Commercial accountability in a global environmentEconomic drivers and consequences in a global knowledge economyManaging people in constant change environments with a sensitivity to social and psychological implications of change and through innovative organisational design, systems and learning culturesIntegrative approaches for leveraging from information and communication technologies (ICTs)
Aims & Objectives:
Upon successful completion, students will have capacity to: Understand complex interrelationships between the drivers of change in the global knowledge economy and implications for business sustainability agendasApply holistic and systemic thinking to risk management, organisational systems and technological support for sustainable business outcomesAppreciate governance, accountability and reporting mechanisms for commercial, environmental, social and people sustainability and demonstrate their strategic value in organisationsCritique new managerial competencies for sustainable business agendas in the workplaceCritique broad stakeholder interests concerning the business – society interface in the workplaceUtilise communication skills underpinning the building of social capital to support sustainable business practicesApply conceptual frameworks and analytical skills appropriate to identifying and reporting to relevant stakeholders on issues concerning sustainable business practice
Course Structure:
To qualify for the award of the Graduate Certificate of Commerce, students must complete 50 credit points, comprising the core unit of study LMC501B plus any other three units drawn from across Stages 5, 6 or 7. Students wishing to do draw on Stage 6 or 7 units will require approval from the program coordinator.

Graduate Attributes:

Entry Requirements:
Entry into the Graduate Certificate of Commerce is available to applicants without a degree who have significant relevant business experience, normally at least four years relevant experience; or applicants with an approved undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution or approved equivalent.
Credit Transfer:
Applicants with prior tertiary studies that satisfy part of the academic requirements of this program may be granted ‘credit’ and/or entry into the program with ‘advanced standing’. University policies apply and applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Recognition of Prior Learning:
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a student may be granted credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. Application Procedure:
The standard entry into the Graduate Certificate of Commerce (L5201) requires: i. An undergraduate qualification from a recognised institution, or ii.
