The Graduate Certificate of Business (Quality Management) has been designed to meet the needs of quality officers and managers wanting to pursue specialist study and develop their managerial skills.

The program addresses the ISO 9001:2008 standards for quality and incorporates the criteria of the Australian Business Excellence Framework. The program develops core leadership, teamwork and management competencies required by contemporary quality managers and their organisations. It is applicable to large and small organisations in manufacturing, health, service, and not-for-profit organisations and can also be tailored to an organisation's specific needs for in-house delivery. 

This is a postgraduate program accredited by Swinburne University of Technology and delivered by Swinburne's TAFE Division.  All graduates will receive a Swinburne University of Technology award.

The Graduate Certificate of Business (Quality Management) seeks to produce graduates who are equipped with a thorough understanding of an industry or organisation's culture and function; the ability to work through unpredictable problem situations of a strategic nature and will be able to hold positions of quality managers.

The program prepares students to move into quality management roles and to take responsibility for the management of the implementation of quality management concepts and practices, and the development, implementation and maintenance of a quality management and quality assurance system for an organisation.

This course is offered online over 12 months part time. Students are expected to spend approximately six hours per week online and undertaking reading, research and the completion of assignments and case studies. 
 
Courses begin each year in early March and August.

The expected area and level of employment for graduates will be for quality officers to move into management roles and for managers to take on more senior responsibilities.

A degree from a recognised institution or a diploma in quality management with practical experience, three to five years experience in a quality management role.

Applicants with prior tertiary studies that satisfy part of the academic requirements of this program may be granted 'credit' and/or entry to the program with 'advanced standing'. University policies apply and applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a student may be granted credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training.

In 2009, tuition fees for this program are based on $1400 per unit of study. In the event that a unit of study is derived from another program, the applicable fee will be that of the other program. Where applicable and in accordance with commonwealth legislation, a general service fee will also be payable. All fees are reviewed each year and may increase without notice.

HELP – The Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) is a suite of income-contingent loans for Australian citizens and holders of Australian permanent resident humanitarian visas. FEE-HELP (previously PELS) is for eligible fee-paying undergraduate and postgraduate students. It provides students with a loan to cover their tuition fees (lifetime maximum $83,313 from 1 January 2009). The FEE-HELP limit is indexed on 1 January each year.

Note: New Zealand citizens and holders of other Australian permanent resident visas do not have access to HELP loans. These students must pay their student contributions or tuition fees up front without a discount.
