The Diploma of Retail Management is the second stage in the Advanced Diploma of Retail Management. Following on from the Certificate IV in Retail Management, the diploma level builds on the managing aspects of running a retail business. Specialised aspects of retail management are introduced such as strategic planning, identifying and evaluating market opportunities, preparing and manage budgets, human resourcing and development of an eBusiness model.
 
(International students holding a student visa are required to study full-time and on campus).


The course aims to prepare students for retail industry cadetships and similar executive development programs by equipping students with the appropriate knowledge and skills for future retail management and executive positions.


The diploma is the second stage in the retail management program and follows on from the Certificate IV in Retail Management. Before commencing the diploma level, students must successfully complete the Certificate IV units. Students must complete all diploma units before progressing on to the .

Satisfactory completion of the Swinburne College English for Academic Purposes Upper Intermediate level certificate at the Pathways level (EAP 4: Pathways -60%); OR, obtaining a minimum IELTS overall band of 5.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 5.0; OR, a TOEFL (Paper-based) minimum score of 527 (with a Test of Written English (TWE) score of 4.5); OR, a TOEFL Computer-based) minimum score of 196 (with Written Writing score of 4.5); OR, a TOEFL (Internet-based) minimum score of 71 with no band less than 18.

The prerequisite units of competencies are: Communicate in the Workplace, Work Effectively in a Retail Environment and either Coordinate Interaction with Customers or Build Relationships with Customers or relevant industry experience.
