This diploma qualification is suitable for those seeking a qualification in project management. Students may already be working in project management. This diploma is also suitable for those qualified in other disciplines at a management level who want to enhance their skills base by obtaining project management skills at a management level. Aims & Objectives:
This course offers a practical and hands-on approach to learning with an emphasis on solving real business problems interwoven with theory and practical application. Upon completion, students will be able to apply their skills by solving practical project management problems. As part of this course, emphasis is placed on appropriate project management documentation and techniques.
Course Structure:
Fast-trackEither in block mode of four days plus four days (with a three to four week gap) with completion in three months for participants with experience as a project manager, who are seeking to formalise their experience and can draw upon their workplace projects. Or as a one day workshop every three weeks (approximately) with completion in six months for participants with limited project management experience and/or project leader experience. Please indicate 'fast-track' and preferred course dates on application.OnlineOnline delivery is perfect for participants who have experience in project management and can apply their learning in their workplace. It is a convenient alternative to the block mode fast track program above. The online delivery is monitored by a tutor with regular opportunities for contact. Completion expected within six months. WorkplaceSwinburne provides customised programs for industry clients. These programs are designed to provide a return on training investment. Part-time evening programPresented as two clusters of subjects taken over two semesters, including a major project study. This is the ideal mode for participants who have project management experience and would like to fully apply learning to their workplace projects. Delivered over two semesters, topics are covered in detail and assessments enable participants to develop their skills and experience through practical tasks, discussion and group work. Class sizes enable opportunities for interaction with teachers and other students. An online program is also available. Applicants with appropriate prior tertiary studies that satisfy part of the academic requirements of the course may be granted 'credit' and/or entry to the course with 'advanced standing'. Pathways (articulation):
Students who successfully complete this Diploma of Project Management, are eligible to receive credit for the first unit of study (Project Management Framework) in the Graduate Certificate of Business (Project Management) at Swinburne University of Technology.
Recognition of Prior Learning:
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a student may be granted credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. Online Program Applicants: Applicants must have at least three years experience in a project management environment and must be currently working in a project manager role to successfully complete this program.
