This is a practical, hands-on course which develops entrepreneurial and innovative approaches to managing people, managing finances, managing projects and continuous improvement and compliance.

The Diploma of Management provides students with comprehensive knowledge and skills in management processes. As graduates, career paths may include supervisory and middle management roles in large and small organisations.
 
Students may already have technical qualifications but need additional management skills to advance their careers. Swinburne's Diploma of Management offers a broad range of study areas relevant to current business needs including change management, performance management, project management, marketing and customer service, financial management and occupational health and safety.


Full-time and part-time modes
Full-time - 6 months (Hawthorn)
Part-time evening - 12 months (Prahran and Wantirna)
Part-time day - 12 months (Hawthorn)
 
Online mode
The online mode is suitable for self-directed learners seeking or building a career in management. The Diploma of Management can be completed in 12 months via the online program.
 
Fast-track mode (advanced option)
The fast-track program consists of one full-day workshop every three weeks for six months. Workshops are interactive and highly engaging. Learning must be applied in the workplace via projects, activities and tasks. The fast-track option is only available to people who have an opportunity to apply their learning to work.
 
Traineeships (workplace training)
Traineeships are workplace based learning. Traineeships in the Diploma of Human Resource Management are available for people whose workplace will support their learning at work.
 
Customised programs
The Diploma of Management can be customised to enterprise requirements for those working within organisations who wish to further develop management skills and knowledge. Typically, the program begins with a training needs analysis and skills assessment followed by customisation of training and assessment to ensure the program meets the strategic goals of the organisation. Learning interventions may include project-based learning, coaching, mentoring, workshops, self-paced and online learning materials. These programs are designed to provide return on training investment.

To be awarded the Diploma of Management, students need to complete eight units.

Traineeships (Workplace Training)
Traineeships are workplace based learning. Programs will be developed to meet the needs of the student and the workplace
 
Additional units are available for industry delivery which can be tailored to organisational requirements within the Training Package qualification rules.

Employment in middle management positions in a range of companies in the private and public sectors.


Students may be eligible to register with the Australian Institute of Management (AIM).

Satisfactory completion of the Swinburne College English for Academic Purposes Upper Intermediate level certificate at the Pathways level (EAP 4: Pathways -60%); OR, obtaining a minimum IELTS overall band of 5.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 5.0; OR, a TOEFL (Paper-based) minimum score of 527 (with a Test of Written English (TWE) score of 4.5); OR, a TOEFL Computer-based) minimum score of 196 (with Written Writing score of 4.5); OR, a TOEFL (Internet-based) minimum score of 71 with no band less than 18.
