Future Students - Courses
Course Description:
The Diploma of Information Technology (Website Development) is designed to provide students with the skills needed to work in the IT industry as web programmers, designers and system architects, and/or to continue to higher education courses. The course includes units covering the areas of communication skills, markup languages, web page design, scripting, client-side programming, server-side programming, database integration, site testing, web security, systems analysis and project management. In the final semester student groups complete major projects for industry clients. In the two-year (February intake) program, students can choose to concurrently undertake the Diploma of Information Technology (Software Development) and gain both diploma qualifications at the end of the second year. Prior to that, students may also qualify for a Certificate IV in Information Technology (Programming) after the first semester, in which students may be required to undertake additional units. The 18-month (July intake) program provides for completion of the Diploma of Information Technology (Website Development) without the Certificate IV in Information Technology (Programming). On successful completion, students can also apply for higher education courses in IT, computing, business information systems and related areas. For details of the possible exemptions available in Swinburne courses, visit our Pathways websites.
