The Associate Degree of Applied Management provides students with generalist understanding in management, strategies and principles around organisations. It provides students with the skills and knowledge required for a career in the management sphere.
Course Description:
The Associate Degree of Applied Management has been designed to build on students' skills and knowledge in the various aspects of management, businesses and organisations. The program provides students with the opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge in real work situations, building strong foundations around strategic leadership, overseeing others, and taking on responsibilities; and to be work ready to perform well in their paraprofessional roles. (Students holding an international student visa are required to study full-time.)

Course Structure:
The Associate Degree of Applied Management consists of 16 units of study, comprising eight specialist units in management and eight common business units, totalling 200 credit points. At the conclusion of Year 1, students may be eligible to exit with a VET diploma and/or substantial recognition towards a diploma in either administration or retail. Successful completion of this program will provide a pathway into the final year of the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA100).

Education Abroad:
Swinburne offers International Exchange Programs as well as other Education Abroad Programs to help students internationalise their degree. International Exchange is an academic program allowing students to study at a Swinburne Partner Institution for one or two semesters during their degree. Swinburne's Partner Institutions offer many relevant subjects as well as a secure base to explore a different culture. Studies done on exchange can be credited towards the Swinburne degree, provided they are relevant and approved by Swinburne. Entry Requirements:
Standard entry requirements for the Associate Degree: Successfully completed an Australian Year 12, orSuccessfully completed the final year of secondary study in the student's home country, orHave sufficient relevant work experience and knowledge in this field of study to indicate likely success at this level of qualification Students who have completed the relevant diploma may enter at second year but will need to successfully complete a Course in Tertiary Transition Skills for a successful pathway for higher education study. Students may receive credit transfers for subjects studied at the appropriate level at other universities or institutions.
Credit Transfer:
Applicants with prior tertiary studies that satisfy part of the academic requirements of this course may be granted 'credit' and/or entry to the course with 'advanced standing'. Pathways (articulation):
An advanced credit transfer system, known as the Pathways program is in place at Swinburne. Upon satisfactory completion of the associate degree, students will be eligible for a guaranteed entry and direct pathway into a bachelor degree program with credit granted for studies completed under the associate degree. Recognition of Prior Learning:
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a student may be granted credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training.
