The Advanced Diploma of Hospitality aims to provide you with the skills and knowledge for you to be competent as a senior manager in any hospitality functional area. You will be able to analyse, design, and execute judgements using wide-ranging technical, creative, conceptual or managerial competencies. Your knowledge base may be specialised or broad and you will often be accountable for group outcomes.


For the first year of study, you will be enrolled into the PSIT30807 Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery). This is a prerequisite to the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality, which you will progress to in your second year of study. The combined duration of these two qualifications is two years.
 
Classes are held three days per week, but may vary to four days and may be conducted during days, evenings and weekends.

Employment in hospitality operations at a supervisory/management level or further study at degree level. Individuals with this qualification are able to perform roles such as:
  • senior manager in a large hospitality enterprise
  • owner or manager of a hospitality enterprise
  • food and beverage manager
  • area manager or operations manager
  • secretary or manager
  • executive chef
  • cafe owner or manager
  • motel owner or manager
  • event coordinator
  • venue coordinator
  • conference coordinator
  • exhibitions coordinator
  • executive housekeeper
  • rooms division manager

Satisfactory completion of the Swinburne College English for Academic Purposes Upper Intermediate level certificate at the Pathways level (EAP 4: Pathways -60%); OR, obtaining a minimum IELTS overall band of 5.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 5.0; OR, a TOEFL (Paper-based) minimum score of 527 (with a Test of Written English (TWE) score of 4.5); OR, a TOEFL Computer-based) minimum score of 196 (with Written Writing score of 4.5); OR, a TOEFL (Internet-based) minimum score of 71 with no band less than 18.
