2 Year/s Hawthorn (Term 1, Term 3) A$13,750 (annual for 2012) (In addition to the tuition fees for the Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology, the following materials fees are payable – Robotics Stream: A$346 (A$290 in first year, A$56 in second year), or Mechanical Stream: A$180 (A$150 in first year and A$30 in second year). or Civil stream: $440 (A$290 in first year and A$150 in second year ). Material fees are subject to change on an annual basis.)

This stream specialises in mechanical units, equipping you for a career in manufacturing and mechanical control engineering. The course also provides para-professional-level training for the mechanical and manufacturing industry, with a major emphasis on automation systems, as well as structural engineering applications.
 
(International students holding a student visa are required to study full-time and cannot take this course part-time.)


The course is structured to deliver the competencies, knowledge and skills required by the Engineering Industries. Advanced mathematics is offered in conjuction with the second year of the Advanced Diploma to facilitate articulation into the degree programs.

Middle-level employment in the engineering field, in such positions as technical support staff for professional staff in the industry. The Mechanical Engineering stream will allow you to work as a tool designer, drafting technician, production supervisor, production planner, production controller, estimator, or plant and equipment sales technical officer.


While enrolled in this course students receive free membership to Engineers Australia. Upon successful completion, candidates are eligible to apply for associate membership of Engineers Australia.

Swinburne College English for Academic Purposes Advanced level certificate at the Pathways level (EAP 5: Pathways -60%) OR, obtaining a minimum IELTS overall band of 5.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 5.0; OR, a TOEFL (Paper-based) minimum score of 527 (with a Test of Written English (TWE) score of 4.5); OR, a TOEFL (Computer-based) minimum score of 196 (with Written Writing score of 4.5); OR, a TOEFL (Internet-based) minimum score of 71 with no band less than 18.
