Course Description:
The graduate diploma has been developed to provide more advanced insights into the changing nature and futures/foresight implications of the global system. Additionally, it links global foresight with organisational strategy, going beyond conventional year-to-year, annual planning cycles to embrace new conceptual and operational territory.
Aims & Objectives:
The purpose of the graduate diploma year of the Master of Management in Strategic Foresight is to deepen the student’s understanding, begun at Stage 1, of the fundamental nature and central role of human consciousness in foresight work. This is done through examining its functioning – via practicial, experiential and reflexive approaches – in a variety of contexts, including: during the undertaking of more advanced methodologicial work in the generation of forward views in intensive individual and group-based knowledge-seeking activities The graduate diploma has been developed to provide more advanced insights into the changing nature and futures/foresight implications of the global system, and to embrace new conceptual and operational territory.
Course Structure:
The Graduate Diploma of Management in Strategic Foresight consists of the four units of study from the Graduate Certificate of Management in Strategic Foresight plus a further four units of study, making a total of eight (each worth 12.5 credit points). This represents four semesters of part-time study. Units of study are taught over six full-day workshop sessions in block mode consisting of two blocks, each over three days. On successful completion of the graduate diploma, students may progress to the Master of Management (Strategic Foresight). International student visa holders are required to study full time.

Professional recognition:
Graduates will be eligible for membership of the World Futures Studies Federation (WFSF). The Federation may also grant the status of Fellow to practitioners of advanced professional standing.
Entry Requirements:
Applicants at graduate diploma level should comply with one of the following: the completion of a relevant degree or diploma the completion of a Graduate Certificate of Management (Strategic Foresight) with satisfactory grades a limited number of applicants not meeting the criteria above may be admitted after interview on the basis of considerable relevant experience and level of responsibility
Credit Transfer:
Applicants with prior tertiary studies that satisfy part of the academic requirements of this course may be granted 'credit' and/or entry to the course with 'advanced standing'. University policies apply and applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis. All applications for unit exemptions should be submitted on the appropriate form at the time of enrolment.
Course Fees:
In 2009, tuition fees for this program are based on $2100 per 12.5 credit point unit of study. In the event that a unit of study is derived from another program, the applicable fee will be that of the other program. All fees are reviewed each year and may increase without notice. The Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) is a suite of income-contingent loans for Australian citizens and holders of Australian permanent humanitarian visas. FEE-HELP (previously PELS) is available to eligible fee-paying undergraduate and postgraduate students. It provides students with a loan to cover their tuition fees (lifetime maximum $83,313 from 1 January 2009). The FEE-HELP limit is indexed on 1 January each year. Note: New Zealand citizens and holders of other Australian permanent resident visas do not have access to HELP loans. These students must pay their student contributions or tuition fees up front without a discount.
