Course Description:
The Graduate Certificate of Business Administration is available to students who only wish to complete the initial stage of the Master of Business Administration .

The Graduate Certificate of Business Administration consists of four core units of study (Stage 1 of the MBA suite). These are normally completed over two semesters of part-time study, or may be completed in one semester full-time. Stage 1 of the program, in particular, requires a substantial commitment to developing basic skills. On successful completion of the Graduate Certificate of Business Administration, students may apply for Stage 2, the Graduate Diploma of Business Administration. Note: International student visa holders are required to study full-time.

Entry Requirements:
An appropriate undergraduate qualification at a credit level (GPA 2.5, GMAT 550 or equivalent) from a recognised institution as well as a minimum of three years post-university work experience in a relevant field. Candidates who do not hold an appropriate qualification but who have significant relevant work experience (usually at least five years) and evidence of academic capability may be admitted initially to the graduate certificate. Students whose first language is not English must provide evidence of advanced proficiency in written and spoken English by: International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Band 6.5 with no single band less than 6.0; or Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) 575 with TWE score not less than 5.0.
Credit Transfer:
The AGSE is committed to the principles of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Our philosophy of 'Learning Through Experience' recognises that learning takes place through a variety of means including formal studies at universities, other accredited institutions and private providers, employer-based training and development and relevant experience gained within the workforce. Undergraduate units are ineligible as a basis for unit exemptions, however, students with a major sequence of study in a relevant discipline will have the option of completing an additional elective as a substitution. Applications for RPL should accompany the enrolment application. International students must provide certified copies of documentation supporting any claim for exemption.
Course Fees:
In 2009, tuition fees for this program are based on $2325 per 12.5 credit point unit of study. In the event that a unit of study is derived from another program, the applicable fee will be that of the other program. All fees are reviewed each year and may increase without notice. The Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) is a suite of income-contingent loans for Australian citizens and holders of Australian permanent humanitarian visas. FEE-HELP (previously PELS) is available to eligible fee-paying undergraduate and postgraduate students. It provides students with a loan to cover their tuition fees (lifetime maximum $83,313 from 1 January 2009). The FEE-HELP limit is indexed on 1 January each year. Note: New Zealand citizens and holders of other Australian permanent resident visas do not have access to HELP loans. These students must pay their student contributions or tuition fees up front without a discount.
